Log 0: The Beginnings and the Terminus

When I was creating all of this, I didn’t just start with the Terminus at all. It started with one character: Aurelia Duval. Now, that’s a name that I haven’t written in quite a long time. There was a lot of drabbles, one-shots, quick ideas to see what feels right and brainstorming.

It was an iterative process. For example, the Terminus started as the KVD. The Kryukia Void Discovery programme. Now I’m getting a little too far ahead.

Creating this content, started around 2016 or 2017, the generation got to a point where I had over 200+ notes on my phone with this app called. “Writer P”, then it transitioned to purely the notes in the default phone, with it being synched, due to something happening and I had lost quite a bit of information. I had a project folder on my desktop pc that I had at the time called: Aetherial Projects.

Which turned into this:

Including an interesting number of spiral and composition notebooks being used because the writing process always feels better when I put a writing utensil to paper.

I didn’t start creating the Terminium Compendium until I felt that I a sufficient enough amount of data compiled, which I started doing that around 2020:

Initially I was going to make a full novel at first, I still have the intended main book plots as well as a document that has the chapter backbone. Then””maybe it was the ADHD, or I felt that was a little too much and I needed something a bit shorter to do. I needed to worldbuild some more:

One goal of creating this project was that I needed something that would probably help with joining a writers guild””that writers guild also had the resources that I need to worldbuild more. So, I got the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association (SFWA)‘s questionaire that can be found here:

I will note that I’m also vastly understating how much I already had””this was needed for the more harder questions as well as things that I didn’t think about. I needed to flesh it out and also procrastinate in a productive way. I was able to improv some parts on the spot, remember some””grab others from the notebook and then””I’d have to research for others.

Before I used this:

Kryukfel was the first location that I created. The world itself was more of an this Earth after a cataclysmic event happened””I kept a cataclysmic event but made it its own planet called, “Archeros” (It was called Panchaea at first). Aurelia, the first character I created, is from the Kryukian Empire.

From there, I was able to make the other main civilization called the Federation. See, there was a couple of motifs that I wanted to address:

  1. Traditional vs. Progressive 2. Magic vs. Science

But not always in a literal versus. So, I have the: cities, culture, infrastructure””there’s a document called “Laws and Customs of Kryukia”. The constructed language’s grammar called Krychukian. Then rules of the Magis’ High Kryukian.

Holidays, Fashion Culture, Food & Gladiatorial Games and such. Excel spreadsheets for the population data, the militaristic guards of the Kryukian Empire’s Dossier and so much more.

I identified my main characters:

  1. Aurelia “Aury” Duval 2. Auburn Nouvisi 3. Anatol Sidhe

These are the three characters that it was based around at first with Aurelia being the main and the other two more or less being the supporting characters. By the time I added the Terminus in””there was three more characters that I created because: I decided to slice it into short stories and poems to introduce:

All in all, this has been an extremely long time with lore creation and I’ve expanded to other parts. Realistically, I should have had some things finished or just””better, overall by now. I blame my ADHD, just keep jumping from one thing to the next.
