Musing: On Iron Mountain

For the record, I’m genuinely surprised that people are shocked by the importance of companies like Iron Mountain. I mean, come on”¦ we’re still in the information age, and with the advent of AI, data protection is going to be more critical than ever. Yet, some seem blindsided by the obvious.
A few months back, as I was dabbling in the stock market with small investments, I realized I needed to think beyond the usual suspects. Everyone’s talking about NVIDIA and AMD when it comes to AI, but what about the infrastructure that supports all this data-driven innovation? That’s when I started looking at Data Management and Secure Data companies as a counterbalance to the big players in AI hardware.
Iron Mountain immediately came to mind. I’ve known about them for years””how could you not? They’ve been safeguarding sensitive information since the days when “cloud” was just something in the sky. But it wasn’t until I started considering the bigger picture of AI’s impact on data management that I decided to put that knowledge to use. So, I threw some money into Iron Mountain stock, and now I’m up $15. Sure, it’s not a massive gain, but it’s validation that my thinking was on the right track.
Honestly, imagine if I had more capital to invest. But hey, at least I knew I was onto something. With AI ramping up, the need for secure data storage, protection, and management is only going to grow. Companies like Iron Mountain are positioned perfectly to thrive in this environment as more organizations realize that securing their data is just as important as the AI tools they use to process it.
Of course, this isn’t investing advice””just my own musings on a decision that paid off, albeit modestly. But it’s a reminder to always think a few steps ahead. When everyone’s focused on the latest shiny tech, it can pay to consider the quieter, less obvious players that make it all possible.
