Sim Adventures: Hauer, I Hardly Neuer!
Archived from occybyte.com/resources · 2024-02-04
Hauer is an iteration of a Sim that I made a while ago, Garsssrick, except Hauer isn’t that much of a player like Garrick was””at least not yet. Hauer lives in Little Nook Falls. Originally this was a ground & basement level dwelling. If since then, removed the basement. What is the bathroom was how you used get to the basement but I enjoy the small””cluttered, feel. Hauer lives on the Little Falls Nook empty lot in Copperdale.
But now I realized””I want to make this more compact, I want to also get rid of the chicken coop and have a little””passageway to outside””section where Hauer can host dinner parties. Time to uh, get cooking. It’s an easy replacement: remove the chicken coops, add a deck, move the lovely plants in the kitchen elsewhere.
This is the start””look a Hauer, starin at his Garlic Noodles as I begin to renovate his place. The vibe I’m going for is like an””compact city apartment dwelling in the middle of the forest. Imagine getting an invite by him to go to a dinner party, you might think: “Is he a werewolf?”, “Is here a wizard?” or “A cannibal?” None of these things. He’s just an eccentric person who moved out and away.
If I do add an basement back””it’ll be where things””ingredients, items from other places and such are stored. But I want it dark, cramped and airtight. Which sounds like the chef’s version of, You, where is if Ned the Pie Maker was a sociopath or something.
The perfect door would have been a sliding glass door but I’ll have to compensate using something else. The “Seeing Glass” door is a bit too uniform and way too open. The difference is the sliding glass door would probably be able to darken and would actually move. I’d hate being near it during winter.
The theme I’m going for keeps changing up””but here’s what I’ve got:
The bar is there temporarily so that he can get his mixology skill up! So, the Sims 4 also needs a modular bar type””like that portable stovetop you can just place ontop of a counter but for bars. The pizza oven is moved from the kitchen to outside and surely it’s rust-proof. I’m thinking of placing the waffle maker back in the kitchen too.
That fireplace also caused a fire as soon as I placed that on the lot and Hauer lit it. The purple and black carpet? That’s the bedroom. A needed room, but not the most important room. I do have Basemental Drugs installed so I need to be careful that he doesn’t become an alcoholic. In fact””I think thirty minutes after I wrote this””I deleted the bar.
What will the layout look like when I decide to add a basement again? I’ll probably move the bathroom where the bedroom-closet hybrid is. The bathroom is precisely one tile bigger than the bedroom””make his bedroom in the basement, again, compact and the rest? The rest is where the storage is””the chains, the whips””okay, now it’s sounding like he has a dungeon.
It would be cool if there was some type of “Gamer” style leveling dungeon where he can get random mysterious meats, fungi and flora. Like””hey, I created a portal in my basement where I can get many unknown and rare types of ingredients. “No, no”¦ I don’t have a sex dungeon nor am I holding hostages down there.” Said Hauer at one point, this sounds like it would be a fun and tedious mod to make. How would it work? Just freeze specific moodlet stats when entering the dungeon and detract from it in increments rather than dynamically drain. I’d probably be the Moonwood Mill Tunnel entrance that I’d use as a starting point for that.
He still hasn’t had that dinner party yet!
My only issue thus far is that””it seems to mess up the queuing system or however the FIFO works with actions. My sims just seems to stand around do no sort of animation for a bit. The only thing Hauer seems to do is pick up a bowl and place it back on the ground. I might have to see if any mod needs updating or check if there are any fixes. [A few minutes later.] Simply going to another lot works!
Hauer kept eating mushroom soup so I checked the Hunger moodlet and that wasn’t moving up at all.
Okay. I think now it’s time to make the basement, as I need to have additional cooking equipment inside of Hauer’s home.
I’ve shifted the bathroom and the bedroom as I mentioned earlier. Now, it’s time to make this basement. And that plan went into kaputzs for some reason””build tools were not responding to my inputs and now I’m stuck on what might be an infinite loop loading screen. Oh boy. Also, I gotta mention, I had some mushroom & sausage alfredo. That’s some good stuff.
It’s restarted and runs better! Okay:
So”¦. putting the deck and lifting up the house caused some issues”¦ so, I’ll have to place the basement on the back-half of the house.
Though”¦ it does raise up the grass. That’s a minor issue that I can probably find my way around. Okay so: I can’t do this without build mode screwing it up.
I’d love to have the basement stairs, turn and hug the wall but that’s a little too much for the sims heads I guess. Though, by the time they turn and go down they should be in the basement. Odd choice devs.
After a couple of hours. I got something; unless I have a walking space in the walls. It mad the top-left””or top-back of the house, depending on which way you are facing, just one square larger than the rest. I also added a fair bit of clutter to the top.
Here’s the top:
Ok.
Here’s the bottom:
So”¦ thoughts?
It’s not as cluttered as I want it to be qithout activating build mode testing cheats so that I can place items anywhere. Alternatively, I can make the “˜living/bedroom’ a studio””so to say. The question is if I place jars of items, canned some goods and have like sticks of homemade butter will the Sim go and retrieve that from a shelf and use it for cooking.
Probably not. The other want is””I still want a lived-in space. For Rent + Home Chef. I haven’t used to Food Stand often at all. I’ll have to get the lot one of the perks that makes people come nearby. I wished it was more like retail or resturants.
